I know what it feels like because I lived it.

Years ago, I was working inside a Smart Style located in a Walmart, trying to juggle long shifts, raise two small kids, and make ends meet with little to no control over my schedule or my income. I was burnt out, exhausted, and missing the most important moments of my life. But deep down, I knew: there had to be something more. So I took the leap. I went independent, rented a studio suite, and built my business from the ground up. And let me be honest—freedom doesn’t feel like freedom when it lacks structure. I found myself still saying “yes” to everyone, afraid to set boundaries, and relying solely on hustle to get by. But everything changed when I made one powerful shift:

I stopped settling and started leading.

I got serious about pricing. I raised my rates strategically. I let go of clients who drained my energy and welcomed in dream clients who respected my boundaries. I created a schedule that allowed me to be present for my family and tend to the things that truly bring me joy—yes, I even have a garden now!

But the biggest transformation wasn’t just in strategy—it was in me. I dove into mindset work, invested in coaching, and rewrote the story I had about what was possible for my life. Once I understood that I was the one in control, I built a business that supported me rather than depleted me. Today, I work behind the chair part-time by choice. I run Stylist Soul Tribe, an online community that’s helped over 100 beauty professionals rewrite their own stories—on their terms.
