This week on the podcast, I was joined by my friend Eve Guzman, a former lab scientist turned nutritionist, weight loss expert, business mentor, and founder of The Macro University. Eve is a powerhouse who brings clarity to both the health and business challenges we often face behind the chair—and I’m so excited to share the insights from our conversation.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re running on fumes (coffee included), skipping meals, or trying to “do it all” in your business without feeling like you’re getting anywhere, this one is for you.
We Met at Kajabi—and Stayed Connected Ever Since
Eve and I first connected when we were invited to Kajabi headquarters as part of a creators roundtable. We hit it off instantly. Over the years, we’ve kept in touch through Zoom catch-ups and check-ins, sharing the ups and downs of running a personal brand, serving clients, and managing life behind the scenes. This episode felt like one of those deep catch-ups—only this time, you got to sit in on it.
From Nearly 300 lbs to Health Mentor
Eve’s journey began as a medical lab scientist who wanted to lose weight and reclaim her energy. Using her science background, she successfully lost 150 pounds and shared her transformation online. That led to the birth of her business and what eventually became The Macro University, home to the largest collective of macro-based nutrition coaches in the world.
What started as a personal mission turned into a global movement of functional nutrition coaches, serving clients in over 15 countries.
For Stylists: Stop Living on Coffee and Fumes
One of the things we talked about is the narrative that stylists don’t have time to take care of themselves. Eve reminded us that:
Starting your day with only caffeine spikes cortisol and sets your hormones off balance.
You train your body to “not be hungry” in the morning—but that’s not a good thing.
Protein needs to be part of your first meal. Even small wins like yogurt, a protein bar, egg bites, or a turkey stick with fruit can change your energy throughout the day.
You need to aim for protein three times a day and drink at least 64 oz of water (more if you’re drinking caffeine).
Her no-nonsense take: You can't pour into clients all day if you’re running on fumes yourself.
Water, Wellness & What Actually Matters
When it comes to water, Eve keeps it simple: stop overcomplicating. Just drink the water. It doesn’t need to be spring-fed or TikTok-approved. Filtered, in glass or stainless steel if possible, and consistent throughout the day.
If you’re peeing a lot at first? That’s normal. Your body adjusts. But skipping hydration isn’t a long-term solution.
Easy Dinners, Simple Wins
Eve doesn’t overcomplicate dinner, either. She recommends:
Cooking two protein options at the start of the week.
Keeping rice and veggies ready to go.
Building plates with a protein, carb, and veg—whether at home or while eating out.
Even when dining out, she keeps this same framework and encourages you to get smart about sides and portions, instead of defaulting to deep-fried everything.
Alcohol: The Hard Truth
Yes, alcohol slows down your metabolism and acts like a fourth macro. Eve’s advice?
Eat a full meal before drinking.
Drink lots of water afterward.
Keep in mind that alcohol impacts your sleep, recovery, and energy.
And no—she’s not anti-drink. She’s just a fan of feeling good.
Business Truths: Same Struggles, Different Industries
As we shifted into talking business, it became clear: stylists, coaches, dietitians—we all face the same struggles:
Showing up online.
Building trust.
Pricing with confidence.
Feeling seen.
Managing social media.
Eve emphasized that the people hiding behind muted Zoom calls and faceless social feeds are often the same ones struggling to raise their prices or attract their ideal clients.
“Do It Afraid.”
Her advice? Take the leap. Post the photo. Record the video. Say the thing. Show your face.Because people want to buy from people. If they don’t see or hear from you, they won’t trust you.
Her coaching programs include Instagram audits, visibility challenges, and the simple but powerful reminder that consistency builds confidence. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
Eve has built a multi-seven-figure business with an email list that started with just seven people. Her first workshop had eight attendees—and it was free. But she showed up, delivered value, and stayed consistent. And that’s what she encourages you to do too.
